East Central High School Demographics
Welcome to East Central High School, home of Hornet Pride. The administration, faculty, and staff of the high school are committed to providing a quality education for all of our 2,700 students. Our goal is to prepare our students to be contributing members of society.
We believe in order to be successful, students must be creative and responsible problem solvers and have the skills and attitudes on which employers can build. To assure this success, we offer a challenging curriculum relevant to the real life experiences within our community. We instill in our students the desire to be lifelong learners in a continually changing world. East Central High School is the educational, social, and economic center for a community of diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Being the only high school in a district that spans 260 square miles, it is sensitive to the needs of students from urban areas as well as those from rural areas. With over 50 clubs and organizations on campus, we provide our students the opportunity to participate actively and successfully during their four years with us. Throughout the years, East Central students have won numerous individual and team awards at the local, state and national levels. In 1996, East Central High School was recognized for overall excellence by Redbook Magazine in its "America's Best Schools" competition, and achieved Recognized status by TEA for the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 school years.
East Central continues to be at the forefront of change and serves as a role model for other schools across the state of Texas.
